Never skip twice!

Something there is that doesn’t love a good habit. Once you start a strong routine, it is only a matter of time before an emergency, sickness or something unexpected threatens to break it.

Consistency is difficult to cultivate and easy to destroy. But here is a golden rule to uphold consistency and preserve habits – never skip twice.

If I play the guitar everyday for 50 days and skip one day, my habit of playing the guitar is still intact, provided I can go back to playing it everyday. There is little reason to feel guilty about that missed day. However, when I skip the second day and the third day, the habit starts to unravel.

It is never the first miss that derails a good habit. It is often the second, the third and the fourth misses. To prevent the downward slide, never skip twice.
