Taking offence is voluntary

We get disappointed, but we take offence.

Disappointment is inevitable. When a promise is broken, disappointment is spontaneous. But offence is taken – it is our active response to that disappointment. You only take something of your own choosing.

Disappointment is inevitable. Taking offence is optional. If you don’t wish to take offence, you can leave it by the wayside.
