Perfection vs. Perfectionism

Any definition of perfection must also include a specification.

The roundness of a metallic sphere 5 cm in diameter can be perfect to tune of 1 mm. An absolutely perfect sphere doesn’t exist.

Perfectionism takes the place of perfection when it becomes an end in itself – not merely to meet spec, but for its own sake. At this point, starts to resemble a religion – hence the ‘-ism’.

Does a worship of perfection align with the change we are seeking to make?
