Mark Rober designed a dartboard that automatically track a dart and moves such that the dart always lands on the bullseye.
The gadget he created made for a great video. It is also an excellent metaphor for a tendency of the human mind that we refer to as confirmation bias.
The human mind jumps to conclusions like we throw darts towards a target. It selects a trajectory to the best of its capabilities. However, once the dart is thrown, the mind is also keen on hitting a bulls-eye every time. Therefore, it often moves the target to suit the trajectory of the dart that it has thrown.
Our minds are rigged to give us the feeling that we are always right. But if you look closely enough, you can observe it moving the dartboard.
