A commitment is a decision you have made in the past that continues to serve you in the present. Commitments ought to be kept.

A sunk cost is a decision you have made in the past that no longer serves you in the present. Sunk costs ought to be discarded.

A question we ought to ask ourselves more often – does this decision from my past continue to serve me today?
