An ode to choice

Hunger in the absence of choice is starvation. Hunger by choice turns into a fast.

Choice transforms labour into a hobby, or even better, a vocation.

Choice turns adversity into opportunity and transmutes stress to determination.

Choice can turn boredom into meditation and creativity. It can turn internment in a concentration camp into inspiration – ask Viktor Frankl.

Choice can take privilege and entitlement, and turn it into gratitude.

Choice translates suffering into happiness and joy.

Is there anything more potent than our power to choose?
